ThingsApp Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the ThingsApp software and related services (collectively, “ThingsApp”), part of the Umweltify Digital Ecosystem operated by Umweltify (“Umweltify”, “we”, “us”). By downloading, installing, or using ThingsApp you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use ThingsApp.

1. About ThingsApp

ThingsApp is a desktop and mobile companion that verifies whether your device runs on renewable electricity and connects that verification to the rest of the Umweltify Digital Ecosystem, including ClimateIn, Green Login, and the Green Electricity Management System (GEMS). When your device is verified as green, you may unlock rewards, perks, and partner benefits across participating services.

2. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use ThingsApp on devices you own or control, for personal or internal business purposes, subject to these Terms. You may not:

• Copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works of ThingsApp, except to the extent expressly permitted by mandatory law.
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute ThingsApp.
• Use ThingsApp for unlawful purposes or to circumvent verification.

Open-source components included in ThingsApp are licensed under their own terms; attributions are available on request.

3. Data & Privacy

ThingsApp processes the minimum data required to verify your green status and connect your device to the Umweltify Digital Ecosystem. This includes:

• Device identifiers and the network signal used by Green-Fi to detect renewable supply.
• Account identifiers when you sign in via Green Login.
• Aggregated electricity and emissions metrics calculated locally and synced to your account.

We process your data in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where it applies. Wherever you live, you may have rights to access, correct, port, restrict, or delete your data, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Full details — including lawful basis, retention periods, sub-processors, and international transfers — are set out in our Privacy Policy.

4. Green Status & Rewards

Verified “green” status is granted automatically when ThingsApp can confirm renewable supply via Green-Fi or a verified GEMS contract. Status may be paused or revoked if verification fails, if the underlying contract changes, or if we detect misuse.

Rewards are provided by ClimateIn and partner services and may change, expire, or be withdrawn at any time. Rewards have no cash value, are non-transferable, and are not refundable. Partner availability is not guaranteed and is governed by the partner’s own terms.

5. Your Responsibilities

• Keep your account credentials confidential and your device secure.
• Use ThingsApp only for lawful purposes and in line with these Terms.
• Do not tamper with verification, falsify supply data, or attempt to claim rewards you have not earned.

6. Updates & Changes

We may update ThingsApp to improve functionality, security, or compliance. Non-material updates may be applied automatically. For material changes to these Terms or to features that disadvantage you, we will notify you at least 30 days in advance via in-app notice or email; you may terminate during that window. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the change.

7. Third-Party Services

ThingsApp integrates with other Umweltify services and third-party providers (e.g. Green Login, GEMS, partner reward services). Your use of those services is subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for outages, changes, or content of third-party services.

8. Limitation of Liability

ThingsApp is provided “as is”, to the extent permitted by law. We remain liable for damages caused by intent or gross negligence, and wherever mandatory consumer law in your country requires.

For damages caused by simple negligence, our liability is limited to typical, foreseeable losses arising from a breach of essential contractual obligations — obligations on which you may reasonably rely for the proper performance of these Terms. All other liability for simple negligence is excluded.

We are not liable for losses caused by factors outside our reasonable control, including third-party services, your network or hardware, or force majeure. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence.

9. Termination

You may stop using ThingsApp at any time by uninstalling it. You may also request account closure and data deletion via hello@umweltify.com; we will action the request in line with our retention policy.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, if continued use creates legal or security risk, or if we discontinue ThingsApp. Where practical, we will give reasonable notice and an opportunity to cure.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the country in which Umweltify is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing in this clause deprives you, as a consumer, of mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence. If you are a consumer, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence; otherwise, the place of jurisdiction is the seat of Umweltify, where permitted by law.
